Tax Exemption on energy efficient appliances

Panama’s Flat Tax
The Cabinet Council of Panama is considering the final approval of allowing tax exemption on energy efficient appliances that comply with certain energy efficiency ratios. The items that are under consideration include refrigerators, airconditioners, freezers, solar water heaters, wind power equipment, fluorescent lamps and energy-efficient washing machines, amongst other energy efficient appliances. The incentive is to promote the use of such energy efficient appliances, as well as cut energy consumption within Panama. If approved the tariffs of between 10 and 15% will no longer be applicable to these approved items.
