Surrounding Regions start discussing Panama Canal Expansion

April 7th marks the date for a scheduled meeting of the New Orleans City Council, to discuss how they can position themselves strategically with the forthcoming Panama Canal expansion project, which is scheduled for completion in 2014.

Arnie Fielkow, the City Council VP, stated that the entire region stands to benefit from the expansion, and this represents a once in a lifetime opportunity for the region. The council has invited all stakeholders from parish and legislative leaders to that of the port and economic development officials to attend the meeting.
