Rancho Pedasi is set to become the first eco-friendly focused community in Panama. An agreement has been reached by key stakeholders to develop a community of no less than 155 houses over 27 hectares. The houses that one can choose from will be designed in a Mediterranean styled finish, and there will be 6 different models to choose from.

The eco friendly efforts that will be put into practice include the use of solar energy panels, as well as recycled insulated panels for the walling, which will keep temperatures below the 70F mark – reducing the need for air conditioners. Water consumption and use will also be regulated by specific systems that will be put into place, as well as the facilitating of recycling efforts by future residents of this community.

The main concern is that the housing will be more expensive than other options available, however the developers have confirmed that the price range remains competitive, with the square meter building costs being fixed at around the $50 mark.
