Panama’s own 911

Monday, February 23, 2009 10:27

Panama launched its own 911 medical emergency service. The service is however only dedicated to medical emergencies and not law enforcement options. The system was designed in a partnership between MER consortium and the Cable & Wireless Panama, and is based upon one central dispatch centre. This centre will in turn allocate and dispatch the correct personnel to wherever they may be required. Targets are for the emergency personnel to respond within 15 minutes of a medical emergency being reported, at least 75% of the time.
