Panama surpasses the 1,5 million tourist mark
In a surprise ‘award ceremony’, a surprised Petitfrere Marc, from Boston, Massachusetts received recognition as the country’s 1,500,000th tourist for 2008. To add to the surprise Marc and his girlfriend, April Chestnut, received a fully paid week holiday supplied by the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), in conjunction with a private enterprise.
The initial forecast, which was made in March, was that of around 1,46 million tourists for the year, according to Nordstrom from the ATP – with having surpassed the 1,5 million mark they are now hoping to reach 1,6 million tourists to enter Panama for 2008.
