Panama State Bails out Cities in 2008

The Panama Federal government had to bail out several cities and municipalities in 2008, according to a report from the Office of the Comptroller. A total of $4,3 million was granted to 42 out of the total of 75 municipalities across Panama. The highest grant that was awarded was to San Miguelito, which received a $1 million grant, whilst the second highest amount went to the Comarca Ngobe Bugle, totaling $800,000. In the province of Chiriqui, nine of the thirteen municipalities received assistance, whilst Los Santos’ municipalities all required help, with the exception of Las Tablas.
