The Chamber of Commerce that reviews and provides projections of sales, originally projected at $700 million, has stated that the actual levels of sales that affect the retail trade sector, has exceeded this projection. According to the Chamber of Commerce a 15% increase in annual sales, and a 10% increase on the holiday season has been realized. The holiday season is measured from the beginning of September to the end of December.

Key industry players have recognized the influence that the increase in tourism has had on the local retail markets, but have also attributed the record breaking sales to central Americans too.
