Panama Canal and Baltimore finalize deal
The ACP and the Maryland Port Administration have finalised a deal to promote a water route from the canal to Baltimore in the Pacific Ocean. The memorandum of understanding is based around information sharing as well as the promotion of this water route which will in turn encourage trade between Asia and the US East Coast. The Port of Baltimore is seeking finance to create a 50 foot berth to accommodate the larger ships that will be using the canal after the successful expansion thereof, due for completion in 2014.
