Martinelli’s Approach To State Governance
The media has been actively reporting on Martinelli’s approach to state governance, within which numerous advisors and service providers have been retained to provide advice, and service provision on a variety of key performance areas such as that of taxation, town planning and no more recently debt collection. Many of the taxpaying citizens view this practice as being sound business practice, in the management and governance of these key areas of concern.
One of the key differentiations within this practice is that although this has occurred in the past, these contracted professionals had a very limited range of input and decision making within government. However under Martinelli’s administration the top professionals have been retained to provide valuable advice, albeit on a more costly basis, the input from these professionals will go a long way in establishing a sound and solid basis for continued growth and development within Panama as a whole.
Considering the outstanding debts that are due, and need to be collected, an amount in excess of $590 million in unpaid bills, that will be outsourced to three debt collecting companies. Confirmed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, whereupon the hiring of no less than 300 auditors to assist in the collection of these outstanding monies. Panama is following countries in Europe, Chile and Puerto Rico who have implemented similar privatized services for debt collection, which will aid in the efficient collection of debts and help with government cash flow.
