Local Guides Call for Regulation in El Valle

The resident guides in El Valle de Anton, in the Cocle Province are calling on the Panamanian Tourism Institute (IPAT) to regulate the tourist guides in this area. The local guides, claiming that they have superior regional knowledge, have to compete with guides that are not from the area and do not add value to the visiting tourist. The guides who would like to create and affiliation entity are losing out on valuable employment opportunities and income generation activities.
The security of tourists is of paramount importance and the local Travel Association of El Valle de Anton ensures that this is indeed part of their mission. To date the association has over 20 members and the association ensures that the guides are qualified in excursions and touring the various mountainous and forest trails.
Current and continuous training is offered and tourists are urged to operate through a recognized association to appreciate and experience all aspects of any tours in the El Valle de Anton region, which includes the experience of the resident people and sites of this beautiful tourist attraction.
