Heineken Selects Panama As Regional Base
The media is consistently reporting the success of Panama’s initiatives to attract foreign investment by encouraging multinationals to set up shop in Panama, as their regional headquarters. The likes of who already have made such commitments include that of Proctor & Gamble, HP, and Caterpillar to name a few. Add the world renowned beer maker Heineken to the mix, and although Heineken is already available in Panama, the mere presence of the company is enough to get the most ardent beer drinking individual excited.

Heineken America Regional Services LTD has selected Panama as its base of operations for the region, as confirmed by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Roberto Henriquez. The company is a subsidiary of the parent company, Heineken International BV Amsterdam, Netherlands. The impact of this decision provides numerous benefits to the Panamanian people with respect to growth, development and of course employment opportunities, whilst offering the Heineken subsidiary exceptional benefits that go beyond the advantages afforded by the Law on International Companies, extending to the strategic position in terms of geographic location, as well as the stable environment contained within Panama itself.

Heineken currently has five main geographic operating divisions, each headed by a Regional President. The regions comprise of Central and Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific and the Americas, of which the latter will be represented from their new Panama base. The company has in excess of $28 billion in assets, and the America Regional Services subsidiary will operate financial management, regional economic groups, personnel, logistics and regional control of operations amongst other value added services and functions to the parent company.
