Development endangers flowers and coral

Recent reports and investigation into the wild flowers of the Azuero region have revealed that they are in fact in danger of being wiped out completely. The cause of this is being attributed to the usage of chemicals in crop growing areas, as well as the continued burning and logging of the rural plains. Locals are urging authorities to conduct studies to prevent the loss of these beautiful natural flowers and plants.
The expansion of Puerto Colon 2000 is negatively impacting on the coral populations in the bay areas. Removal of these species has been conducted without thought of consequence and will affect the symbiotic relationships that marine life and coral share.
