A Look Into Travelling – Panama Style

Panama, just like its heritage and people is a land of not only beauty, but vast diversity too. From Panoramic views of the rugged Pacific Ocean coastline to the more serene tropical Caribbean, many forget that the interior has significant sights and sounds to offer the tourist to, and even resident of Panama.

Did you know that you can even get top quality cigars in Panama, of which the tobacco has been grown there for the last century or so, admittedly with Cuban seed for the original plants? Hence one can have authentic cigars from tobacco grown in the well known Chiriqui Province and produced close to Penonome, just over a couple of hours outside of Panama City.

To get to the factory where the cigars are rolled by hand, one needs to head towards Penonome on the Pan American Highway, and from there towards La Pintada, where you will clearly get the 19th Century ambience and feeling in this quaint area. The enjoyment of the entire experience culminates in witnessing the hand rolling in the rolling room, where you are surrounded by sights and smells of the tobacco plantation itself, although removed. You will also get the sense of tradition as the rollers practice their craft which is in fact hundreds of years old and quite often passed down from generation to generation.

The beauty and sense of history within Panama, varies from the coastal towns and centers, to the hillsides like that of La Pintada and regardless where you go in Panama, you will feel the rich sense of history and cultural diversity represented in every aspect of the Panamanian landscape and the people of Panama.
