Terraced House

The terraced house came about due to limited space, and was primarily used by city planners and architects. The benefit of the terraced house is that one can co locate a number of houses in a smaller area, that still appears aesthetically pleasing.

The terraced house complex is a style of medium density housing, and had its origins in the 17th century. The style of the houses actually appear as mirror images of each other, and the houses located on either end of the row of terraced houses are normally larger than the others and are known as the end terrace. The terraced house is also known as a townhouse, a patio house and a row house.
