Boquete

Located in the Chiriqui province, Boquete is the ultimate nature lover’s paradise. The river Caldera comes from the east, and runs through Boquete, whilst on the west is the Baru Volcano. The region is ideal for flower and coffee growing due to the rich and fertile volcanic soil. With an extremely comfortable year round climate – which escapes the humidity of the lower lying regions, this area has received accolades from the New York Times, Fortune and Conde Nast Traveler magazines, to name a few. Boquete gained popularity as a retirement choice, due to this excellent climate and value for money; one will encounter many ex pats from the States, Australia, England and more.

The Boquete region is home to the Los Quetzales Trail, which is a 6km long trail offering wonderful sights and sounds of the indigenous wildlife with the opportunity to view over 250 bird species. The Baru Volcano is Panama’s highest mountain and although dormant, remains potentially active. The mountain slopes are farmed for the internationally known coffee and one is able to tour, upon request, some of the traditional coffee plantations and farms, still employing age old coffee processing techniques. A way to enjoy the serene natural beauty includes taking the Boquete Safari in the famous yellow landcruiser, it offers one the opportunity of viewing the natural beauty of the area, with the insights of a local tour guide.

The Flower and Coffee fair is an annual attraction held in Boquete in January each year; offering the beauty of flowers and plants as well as the fine coffees from all the local regions in the central and northern South Americas. Located 30 minutes from the provinces capital of David, Boquete is easily accessible by road.
